Steam: your level is a summary of your badges. Most badges give 100 XP.
100 XP per level up to level 10, 200 XP per level after that, 300 after level 20, and so on.
A high level shows investment in the account; a low level on its own says little about the player.
Steam level XP
| Level | Total XP | XP per level |
|---|---|---|
| Level 10 | 1,000 XP total | Levels 1 to 10 cost 100 XP each. |
| Level 20 | 3,000 XP total | Levels 11 to 20 cost 200 XP each. |
| Level 30 | 6,000 XP total | Levels 21 to 30 cost 300 XP each. |
| Level 40 | 10,000 XP total | Levels 31 to 40 cost 400 XP each. |
| Level 50 | 15,000 XP total | Levels 41 to 50 cost 500 XP each. |

Rule from Steam: Steam Trading Cards FAQ
Guide
Steam describes your level as a summary of your badges. Crafting game badges from trading cards, event badges, the Steam Community badge, and the Years of Service badge all add XP.
Steam calls the level "a quick way for users to see how much someone has invested in their Steam account". It raises your friend limit, unlocks a profile showcase every 10 levels, and increases your booster pack drop rate by 20% every 10 levels.
Steam's trading card and level FAQThere is no official "good" level; it mostly reflects how many badges someone crafts. For reference, among 1,957 CS2 pros and streamers with a public level, the median is 26, half sit between 15 and 47, and a quarter are below 15.
So a low level is normal even for very experienced players. A new account with level 0 to 5, one game, and few hours is a different picture from a ten-year-old account at the same level.
More CS2 pro account statisticsPeople checking a suspected smurf often look at Steam level. On its own it proves nothing: many main accounts never craft a badge. It is more useful read together with account age, games owned, CS2 hours, and whether the account is limited.
Check an account for smurf signalsAccount age, Steam level, name, and profile visibility come from Valve's official Steam Web API and the public Steam Community profile. AIMTRACER caches them for up to 10 minutes, and the Steam level for up to an hour.
Every lookup reads these sources live and keeps the answer only in a short cache. When a source is private or does not answer, the page says so instead of guessing, and no stat is presented as proof of cheating.
How AIMTRACER worksFAQ
Paste their Steam profile link or Steam64 ID into AIMTRACER. The level is shown next to account age, games owned, hours, and bans. You can also see it on their Steam profile page.
Steam says it takes 100 XP per level at first, then 200 XP per level after level 10, 300 after level 20, and so on. That makes level 10 cost 1,000 XP in total, level 50 cost 15,000 XP, and level 100 cost 55,000 XP.
By earning badges. Most badges give 100 XP: craft game badges from trading cards, complete the Steam Community badge, take part in Steam events, and collect the Years of Service badge each year.
There is no official benchmark. Among 1,957 CS2 pros and streamers with a public level, the median is 26, so a modest level is normal even for experienced players.
Valve does not publish the Trust Factor inputs. Its FAQ only says Trust Factor looks at your history in CS2 and on Steam, so a level on its own is not a known matchmaking factor.
