Can I check bans on a private Steam profile?
Yes. Steam reports VAC, game, and trade ban status through its public API even when the rest of the profile is private, so ban state is usually available.
What is the difference between a VAC ban and a game ban?
A VAC ban is issued automatically by Valve Anti-Cheat for detected cheat software. A game ban is issued by the game's own systems, such as Overwatch verdicts in Counter-Strike. Both are permanent marks on the account.
Do VAC bans expire or get removed?
VAC bans are permanent and are almost never lifted. Valve only removes a ban if it was issued in error, which is rare.
Does a VAC ban show which game it came from?
Not directly. Steam shows that a VAC ban exists and how many days have passed since the last ban, but it does not name the game on the public profile.
Do I need to log in to check someone's bans?
No. Paste a Steam profile link, vanity URL, or Steam64 ID and AIMTRACER shows the public ban state without any login or credentials.
Is a clean ban record proof the player is legit?
